Yet another one from my favorite subject as of late. I just can't seem to catch a break with a combination of a great sunset and a high tide.

This is a great photograph! As mentioned before the motion blur is just perfect, the effect of the water on the rocks is really stunning.

What a lovely composition. A great shot, well executed. What shutter speed did you use for this? I feel it's just the right amount. Enough motion blur, but not too much :)

Thank you for the kind words. I agree that ND filters are often over-used to the point where there is no texture in anything moving in the image. Sometimes it works, often it does not.

In this particular case the exposure time was 2s at 12mm and f/16, lens focused at the hyperfocal distance (~60cm). I was trying to get the "blanket over stone" effect so I eyeballed how long it took the water to get on top of the stone and roll off it, and set the exposure time to around that. The picture was taken in broad daylight so I had to use a 400X ND filter and correct for the inevitable color cast in post-processing. Things are still a bit too blue for me, but I try to not distort what the camera "saw" too much.
