Mount Fitz Roy photographed from Camp Poincenot. We arrived at the camp in the early afternoon. The mountain was shrouded in clouds for a while... then this happened. It was pretty remarkable.

12/30/11: major re-edit. I was never particularly happy with the original B&W edit, it was a bit too aggressive and dropped too much of the image in the black. This new version is, IMO at least, a significant improvement. Not that it can be seen in the reduced version, you will have to take my word that the full-sized one is MUCH better

love the composition and the B/W treatment
Yes, I have many keepers to show over the coming weeks, this is probably one of my favorites. Some of the others will get more oohs and aahs but pretty much everyone in the workshop has them. I *think* that this particular composition and rendering is one of a handful that are somewhat unique.
You can see view how *Ian-Plant saw the same scene here. I love the attention to detail and the confluence of events he describes, and how our respective images have totally different atmosphere and feel to them.
but your way of successfully reducing the scene to a very minimum makes me simply feel speechless... this is some of these things i still struggle to accomplish, keeping a capture very simple and clean to reveal the real beauty of a place.
hope to see more of these stunners from you, so i better
