Finding an interesting angle at a location that has been shot a million times such as Second Beach is never easy. Woke up at an ungodly (for me) hour for this one, only to find overcast skies and light rain at the end of the 1-mile trail.

the b&w conversion really captures the essence of the west coast beaches, have been lucky a few times but usually appear like this, grey and dismal, but still so beautiful. not sure how i missed this one while perusing your gallery before! though rainy and overcast, believe you got there at the right time for the tides to grant you this superb composition :)

It was rather bland, I posted a link to it while commenting on an image from this location that :devwvdophin: posted and she immediately suggested BW (above). Took me a while to get to it, but once I tried it it did look better. I will keep refining it, the contrast in the rocks is still too high for my taste.

It's not so bad. I think it probably fairly accurately represents the way most people see this beach on any given day throughout the year. Might have been a nice black and white conversion.

This is how I imagined it would look in the months leading up to my trip. I never thought in a million years that it would be sunny and nearly 80 degrees the whole time I was in WA. I guess the good thing about it is that I got to SEE everything, as it was not swallowed up in fog.

I realy like the whiteness of this picture. Sometimes don't need blue sky with lovely veil clouds. :)

Thank you for the thoughtful comment. Yes, the foggy sky complements the water and tends to emphasize the rocks.
