A lone lenga tree overlooking the river downstream from Salto Grande, Torres del Paine, Chile.
...

I knew what I was going to call this shot the moment I saw it. As the name implies there is another version of this coming, from a quite different perspective. I just need to figure out whether I like it color or B&W.

really like the motion captured here..compliments the overall flow of the picture nicely. have to say keep it in color on the next version..water is too gorgeous to desaturate! and have to applaud the efforts to get a higher perspective to place the tree fully over the water :)

P.S. Did not steal your title, I really had this in mind before I ever saw yours :)

Thanks for the comment. There is lots of gray sky in the other version (it is a view from below the tree looking down the river) and it does not look too good, hence my inclination to do it B&W. We shall see.

That tree is a fantastic addition to the composition!

Yes, you had to climb up somewhat shaky rock to keep it from intersecting the bank on the other side, but it was not too bad. Glad you like it.

Nice and what about a little HDR effect ? Personnaly I nver tried HDR and long exposure, did you ?

Contrast is sufficient for a single exposure, not sure what HDR would do. I can see blending exposures in this situation to freeze the tree if there was strong wind, but that was not the case.
